Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar penned a heartfelt note on his father Ramesh's 25th death anniversary on Sunday. He took to his official Twitter account and said that it still feels like his father is there with him.He recalled the time when his father passed away when he was 26 years old. Tendulkar, one of the greatest batters to have played the game, penned a note for his father Ramesh on social media.

Tendulkar said that he hopes that he is living up to his father's values. Tendulkar, 26, heard the news of his father's death on the eve of a World Cup game against Zimbabwe.

Tendulkar flew to India and attended the funeral and returned to England scoring a hundred against Kenya in a winning cause that kept his team alive in the competition.

"It has been 25 years since Baba left us, but standing by his old chair today, it feels like he is still here. I was only 26 at the time and now, at 51, I see even more clearly how much he impacted my life and the lives of many others," Tendulkar tweeted.

In the 1999 ODI World Cup in England, Tendulkar was playing for India in the tournament when the news of his father's death reached him. After this, he came back to India to be with his family.

But Tendulkar soon joined his team back and played against Kenya, where he scored his 22nd ODI hundred. He looked up to the sky in a famous celebration and dedicated his century against Kenya to his late father.

Tendulkar retired as international cricket's most consistent run-getter in history. He holds the record for being the sole player in history of the game to have hit 100 hundreds in his international career.

Tendulkar might have set new benchmarks every year during his storied career but winning an ODI World Cup was his biggest dream and he realised it during the 2011 ODI World Cup at home.
